9/17  Happy September!  Cooler weather is coming and we are excited to bring you the 6th annual Harvest Festival.  It will be a great time this year, with old favorites and exciting new features!  We are working diligently on the Community Center.  Pickle Ball leagues are forming now - to start up on October 3rd!  Pleae call for more information.  We have three elected Director seats up for election this year.  The deadline to sign up as a write-in candidate is September 23rd.  See you all at the Festival!

7/17 Summer is in full swing!  Hope you are enjoying the bright, hot weather!  We had some gym time for the Pickle ball players in the community center!  It was great to see all the hard work come to fruition.  THEN we had to have the floor fixed, THEN there was a water line issue on Main Street.  The gym will be back in business on the 12th!  8am to noon is Pickle Ball, and noon to 4 p.m. Open gym.  I know we like you to go outside and play, but in the heat, come and play in you new (old) gym!

6/17 Happy Summer!! Hope you are all getting outside to play!!  This month is very busy around town as summer gets into full swing and we all start thinking about the 4th of July celebration.  The summer lunch program has started in Foote and Hawthorne Parks.  Every weekday (except Holidays) at 11:30 a.m.  There are two movies in the park this month at dusk, Foote park.  Inside Out on the 10th, and Finding Dory on the 24th.  Hope the weather cooperates!  Pickleballers!! Every weekday from June 12th through the 23rd we will have the pickle ball nets set up in the community center from 8 to 11 a.m. for FREE Pickleball!!!  Our regular monthly meetings have been changed from the 1st Thursday to the 2nd Thursday of each month.  Please join us!

5/17 Summer is coming!! The summer Lunch Program will start up in Hawthorne and Foote Parks right after Memorial Day weekend.  Also the fountain and toys at Foote should be up and running the end of this month.  We had our first event at the Community Center this month!  Pivotal Dance Company did Alice in Wonderland.  It was amazing!  If you weren’t able to attend, we hope to see you at the next one!  Baseball is in full swing and the Parks are looking great!   PLEASE remember to pick up after yourself and your people!  We have had our usual spring rash of vandalism.  Especially people doing cookies in their vehicles on YOUR grass!!  Repairing the parks costs money that would be better spend on programs, equipment and the new sprinklers at Foote (so we can make more fields!)  Please if you see anyone doing something they shouldn’t in one of your parks, call Middleton Police!  When we catch them, they get to help repair the damage they did, at less cost to you.

4/17 Happy Easter!  We are very excited about our Easter Egg Hunts coming up.  We are working really hard to get everything ready!  Lucky for us we have had some wonderful volunteers step up to help us out!  We will see you at Foote Park at 9 a.m. For the little ones (Infant to 5th grade), and then back at Hawthorne Park at 8:30 for a Glow In The Dark Hunt for everyone from 6th grade to 90 years old!  We still need volunteers if you would like to donate an hour of your time!

3/17 Happy Spring!!!

2/17 Happy Valentines Day!!  It’s been a long and amazing winter, but Spring is finally coming, and we are working really hard to get your parks and the new Community Center ready to go.  Please join us for our regular meeting on March 2nd at the Community Center!  It is our one year anniversary of leasing the building from the School District. It had been empty (except for batting practice) for a long time,  and it needed LOTS of work!  You are invited to come and check out our progress toward making this a friendly and multi-use building for our whole community!

1/17 Happy New Year.  Hope all your Holidays were Merry!  The weather has kept GMPRD Staff busy on snow moving duty!  We had a breaker go out at the Hawthorne restroom facility over Christmas, causing the pipes to freeze and burst.  We are working on getting this repaired.  Middleton Baseball Association was at  our meeting this month.  They explained to the Directors that there is a need for 90 ft baselines to help our baseball players transition to the older leagues.  To that end, fields 1 & 3 at Hawthorne Park will be getting adjusted baselines early this Spring.  When they are not busy with snow removal, the staff has been working hard at the new Community Center.  March will mark our one year anniversary on leasing the old building.  We will have our March (3/2 at 7pm)meeting there and you are invited to come see the progress!

12/16  Merry Christmas!  Thanks to everyone who made Santa’s Workshop awesome again this year!  We hope your Holidays are Merry and Bright.

11/16 - Work goes on at the Community Center!  The restrooms are coming along nicely toward their required ADA compliancy.  The Basketball backboards have been found!  The roof and windows have had some repairs - still working on that.

The new main-line sprinkler system at Foote Park is being worked on.  Hope to have some new grass for Soccer very soon!

IMPORTANT!  A gate has been installed at the entrance to Coleman Fields.  This is to help us prevent the expensive vandalism that occurs there in the winter.  There is a number on the gate.  If you require access, please call!

Also, work is going on apace at the Community Center (formerly the Fine Arts Center) on Main Street.  We managed to save some money this year and we will be using it to update the electrical in the fine old building!  Our goal is to be able to do something in there by this winter!

7/16 - Hope your summer is going well!  The new concession stand is up and running at Hawthorne Park!  It has been very well attended!  Hope you are all enjoying it!

We are moving quickly along with our work at the new Community Center! (Formerly the Fine Arts Center).  The carpet has been pulled up off the Gymnasium floor, the walls are being stripped in the three classrooms for updated electrical and insulation, the roof is being repaired…It’s a BIG task, but we are working within our budget to bring the old girl back to her former glory!  Some of the plans for the community center include indoor volleyball, basketball, hockey.  The classrooms will be another great benefit to our community.  We are very excited about it and are working as quickly as we can with our budget and staff.

We are looking for volunteers to help with this one day event. This will be your chance to get involved with the community on a project that will benefit everyone that uses the parks. Lunch will be provided at midday, and we have goodie bags for the first twenty people that sign up to help Saturday morning. There will also be  drawing for several other items that were donated by local businesses Including a new Skill saw.
